Yes, it works at removing foundation, powder and blush. Acne.org Moisturizer also removes makeup very well. Jojoba oil may be superior for removing mascara and eye makeup.

How do I use it to shave?

You can use Acne.org Cleanser to shave just as you would a shaving cream. Dispense into your palm--3 pumps is good--and get a nice thick lather going. Apply as shave cream and off you go. It's as good or better than almost all shaving creams, gels, or soaps and helps you avoid potentially irritating ingredients in these products. See the guide to shaving for more detailed instructions.

How many do I need per month?

Liquid cleansers (preferable):

  • Johnson's Head-to-Toe Baby Wash – Contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a potentially irritating ingredient, but it seems to work well for most people who use it with The Regimen. Very pleasing and thick foam. Scented.

  • Olay Foaming Face Wash (Sensitive) – A nice, gentle, foaming face wash which works well within The Regimen. Contains a small percentage of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a potentially irritating ingredient, but many people use it successfully. Scented.

  • Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser – Another nice, gentle, foaming face wash which works well within The Regimen. Contains a small percentage of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a potentially irritating ingredient, but many people use it successfully. Scented.

  • Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash – This is nearly identical to Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser and made by the same company, but is more expensive. Feel free to use this in a pinch, but Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser works identically for a lower price. Scented.

Non-foaming options, for women (or men who do not use cleanser to shave)

  • Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser – Inert, ultra-gentle, calming, milky-feel cleanser.

  • Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – Contains a small percentage of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a potentially irritating ingredient, but many people use it successfully within The Regimen. Feels a bit "thick" and takes some getting used to. Can be a bit tough to rinse off so be sure to rinse patiently and gently.

Bar cleansers:

  • Basis Sensitive Skin Bar – The best choice of all of the bar cleansers. Unscented, non-irritating, safe for daily use.

  • Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar – Lathers well. Scented.

  • Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar, Antibacterial – Claims of “antibacterial” in any cleanser are more for label claim than anything. Cleansers by their very nature are antibacterial. Lathers well. Scented.

  • Purpose Gentle Cleansing Bar – Lathers well. Scented. Can be a bit more drying than the other bars, but will work fine if the others cannot be found.
